Andrew,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on how a profile picture is what first caught your attention when you were scanning through a list of Twitter users. The whole premise behind my website piccess.com is that same idea you have just described, that the tweeter whose picture caught your eye had a better chance of receiving a ‘Follow’ click. I admit I do the same thing when I am on LinkedIn. I'm not only looking to see what association I have with the connection request but but I want to know what that person looks like.

Cheers!

I find copywriting exciting - there's always a new challenge and a new company to pull out of the middle of the road and onto the rostrum!

It's all about finding a way to make each client present themselves in a way that makes potential customers think 'I want that'! Great fun and very rewarding when you get it spot on.

Oh I think copywriting can stand the test of time. The copy on my website is two years old and still sounds ok! ;-)

Hi Andrew,

Mighty fine post. I, too, have had similar experiences with Twitter with regard to making work contacts as well as hearing what people have to say about it. I must confess when I first joined, I didn't "get" it either. I started, then stopped, thinking it was a waste of time, but I did come back to it eventually (obviously), and now can't imagine not checking in on who's doing what every day.

At the same time, I am mindful that I can't let it dominate my time and that I can play with using it in whatever way suits me best. You're right. The tweeter is entirely in control. I have met some really great people on Twitter (present company included, of course!), and when you work in a solo-office, it's a great benefit to be able to hang around the online water cooler and see what's up!
